Sturdivant Adams is the winner of The American Prize (2023), the ASCAP Morton Gould Award (2020), the ScoreLive Composer of the Year Award (2021), the Royal Northern Sinfonia’s “New Year, New Music” Award (2018), and a two-time nominee of the Hollywood Music in Media Awards (2019 and 2020). A close collaborator with composer Benjamin Wallfisch, Sturdivant co-produced the score for Alien: Romulus (2024) with Wallfisch, composing additional music for 20th Century’s reboot of the sci-fi horror mega-franchise. His score for the upcoming adventure romance feature Prisoners of Paradise was recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

Sturdivant’s concert music has also received critical acclaim, including his Symphony 2 which was commissioned by Warsaw’s Polin Museum and premiered in 2019 by the Sinfonia Varsovia. He has also composed for the Royal Northern Sinfonia Orchestra, the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, London’s Orchestra for the Earth, and Brightwork Newmusic for the LA HearNow Festival. His upcoming album Revolutions blurs the lines between the languages of film and concert music, and features performances by Sturdivant and Ensemble Muir.

After beginning studies in classical piano at a young age, Sturdivant later shifted to jazz, working with Grammy-winning and nominated artists Taylor Eigsti, Ambrose Akinmusire, Terri Lyne Carrington, Eric Harland, Walter Smith III, and Julian Lage. He holds an MPhil in Music Composition from the University of Oxford, an MM in Screen Scoring from the USC Thornton School of Music, a BA from Columbia University, and is an alumni of the SCL Mentor Program and the USC Screen Scoring Mentorship Program.
